Virtually an open-air museum. Designed by the architect Carlo Maciachini and inaugurated in 1866, the Cimitero Monumentale contains works of art by the most important sculptors and architects of the last 150 years. Many illustrious Milanese, who brought fame and prestige to the city, are buried here.
